Hi.
I am using android for a bout a year now.
I have got the xperia pro from sony with a qwerty keyboard running android 4.04.
I didn't play with a lot of gps applications so far.
The only two i tried are where am i which is part of mobile accessibility from code factory and walky talky from the eyes-free project.
These two applications are not very advanced but they can tell you from which address you are passing by. I am happy with this feature and i am not looking for anything more.
I just want to know in which address i am.
The problem with these two applications is the fact that they need to be online to get the address information etc.
I wanted to know if there is a way to save on the sd card the map of the city that i need so i don't have to be connected to the internet.
Sometimes i didn't have internet when i was on the buss so i didn't know when i had to get off the buss so i had to rely on other people.
I heard about near by explorer by the American printing house for the blind but it covers only the states and i am in Cyprus by the way.
Also this program used to have a problem because it used to save the 3 gb maps on the internal memory of the phone instead of the sd card so it would be impossible to run it on my phone i think.
I hope they fixed this problem by now.
The program is 99 dollars for those who are interested to get it.

how about using your on board navagation app and type in the address and let it guide you via its voice? I have used it and it has saved me time when guiding taxy drivers. Out side of near by explorer, most people used what you used to get around.
